Vendres-Plage, family destination

Vendres-Plage is above all a family beach appreciated for its fine sandy beaches on a gentle slope, protected by a string of dunes. But lovers of great sensations will not be outdone because the windswept coasts of Narbonne attract water sports enthusiasts such as surfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, etc..

Vendres-Plage is also a "nature" resort preserved from concrete and urban areas. It wants to be a "Green Resort" with its unique fauna and flora, its dunes and paths. Between sea and land, discover this little Camargue, home to ducks, grey herons and pink flamingos.

A rich and welcoming region

On the edge of the Mediterranean and its fine sandy beaches, a stone's throw from the Canal du Midi and magnificent medieval towns such as Carcassonne, you are in Vendres-Plage located in the Languedoc-Roussillon and more precisely in the department of Hérault between Valras (approx. 10 km) and Cap d'Agde (approx. 15 km).

The Hérault, shaped like an amphitheatre around the deep blue sea, offers a complete range of breathtaking landscapes, archaeological sites, natural spaces, picturesque villages, historical and cultural cities.

The Languedoc, holidays all year round

Close to the Spanish border, it's good to live all year round in this little corner of France living to the rhythm of the seasons. Animated in July-August, the region finds its calm from the beginning of September, a very pleasant period to stay and enjoy the nature that surrounds you. Vendres-Plage has everything to please holidaymakers looking for the peace and quiet of the low season, while enjoying the sunshine of the South of France.

During summer, the village comes alive at the same speed as the tourists arrive in the area. A green resort and perfect for family holidays, Vendres-Plage fills up and offers a host of activities for your children and adults.

Whether it's for your next family holiday in a holiday park or a couple's stay to rest, Vendres-Plage has everything to seduce you! So don't hesitate any longer and book now.

The coastline, its beaches, its creeks

The main asset of Vendres-Plage is its fine sandy beaches that stretch along the coast from La Grande Motte to Valras Plage.

The magnificent fishing ports of Cap d'Agde and Sète are open to you and are ideal destinations for an excellent meal by the water's edge. The fish and shellfish come back from the morning fishing and end up directly on your plates.

In another style, the marinas of Frontignan and Palavas are perfect places for a walk on the dike along the beach.

The Vendres-Plage region owes its nickname "the Venice of the Languedoc" to its superb sandy beaches, its creeks surrounded by steep cliffs and the presence of numerous canals in the area.

Hinterland and natural sites

The Hérault is a region rich in historical, cultural and archaeological heritage. In season, tourists flock to the coast and flood the beaches of the Mediterranean.

Take the opportunity to discover the jewels of the region, in the hinterland of the Hérault. You will discover natural sites of exceptional beauty. Here is our top 3.

Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert

In an exceptional landscape of Mediterranean hills, the site of Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert - Gorges de l'Hérault has developed around the Abbey of Gellone and the Devil's Bridge, an emblematic passage on the road to Santiago de Compostela.

Inscribed on the World Heritage List, these two monuments make the identity of this site, classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France, as well as two other Hérault villages also to be discovered: Olargues and Minerve.

Cirque de Navacelles

Nestled in the heart of the Vis gorges, which cut into the causses of Blandas (Gard) and Larzac (Hérault), the Navacelles cirque is a geological curiosity.

With a depth of 300 m, it results from the abandonment of a meander of the Vis which opened up a more direct route by creating an 8m high waterfall.

Listed as a World Heritage Site, the emotion of discovering this site lies in the beauty of the circus as much as in its approach with the crossing of the vast expanses of the Causses.

Salagou et Cirque de Mourèze

Covering an area of 750 ha, the Salagou lake owes its fame to the red colour all over the surrounding soil. You will be able to go for a bike ride or a walk there while contemplating the splendid landscapes around you.

A stone's throw from the lake, on the other side of the hill, the Cirque de Mourèze unveils 340 hectares of gigantic dolomitic rocks with strange shapes. These limestone rocks, formed 160 million years ago, are eroding over the millennia.

Canal du Midi (Unesco)

240 km long, the Canal du Midi is the work of PP Ricquet dating from the 17th century. It connects the Mediterranean to the Atlantic Ocean. Its banks, lined with plane trees, are an invitation to go for a walk, a bike ride or even, along the water, in a barge... The Canal du Midi is today dedicated to yachting and cruises.

You can rent your barge and thus contemplate the most beautiful landscapes of the Hérault, pass through towns and villages, cross the river Orb by a Canal bridge and even climb a hill via the 8 locks of Fonséranes (out of a total of 63 locks).

The "Canal du Midi" is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To discover absolutely during your stay in Vendres-Plage in the Languedoc.

Towns and villages

The Hérault is full of small atypical villages that deserve a visit during your stay at Les Mûriers in Vendres-Plage.

Among the excursions in the region:

  • The city of Béziers and its rocky spur overlooking the wine-growing plain;
  • Carcassonne and its majestic ramparts;
  • Pézénas, a small town of commerce and culture where Molière and his "illustrious theatre" stayed;
  • Lunel, famous for its bullfighting parties and its Muscat;
  • Sète has typical sporting and gastronomic traditions and is now famous for being the location for the TV series "Tomorrow belongs to us".
  • Cap d'Agde its raw nature and its volcanic stone constructions.
  • Roquebrun, its old town and its Mediterranean garden, conservatory of aromatic and medicinal plants.
